Check it out me with straight hair. Well it was a big day yesterday I GOT MY own HAIR done. Now you would think that as a hairdresser that I would always be getting my hair done…WRONG.

me & Alison my friend and client
We are going to Germany next week….OKAY in 7 days but who is counting…(i will blog about the trip before and after and believe me I will be looking at hair over there) So I thought it was a great reason to get my hair done for the trip. I had my friend Linda cut and color it…way cute cut hu? and Lola did the amazing blow dry and straighten (it took almost 1 hour just to style it). It is so fun to have it straight for a change at least until I wash it. I know most people would kill for my curls but really a CHANGE is always fun.
I do want to point out that the style has fullness on the top and the sides really close to my head. It kinda has a “Rocker Chick” fell to it. This look is what is really fun and hot for the fall (even though it still fells like summer here). Lots of layers and the fullness above the ears.
I am really wanting to do it curly to see what it will look like. I will post a pic. PLUS Nathan DOES NOT like it straight…he took one look at me and said where is my curly girl…hummm he is so cute. Good thing he likes it curly and not straight.

me & Molly my friend and client
So go crazy get a change it feels so great to just do something different…cut more layers, straighten the curls or curl the straight (if only for a couple of days).

My sister in law Monica came to visit this past weekend. She comes Salt Lake City to have me do her hair plus I think it helps that we are in Vegas it is a good excuse to come and play…lol
She was ready for a change so we cut and colored her hair. She liked the length in front but felt like she did not have any style. So I cut her in this cute a-lined layered bob. I think it turned out super cute if I would say so myself. The best part is she can wear it curly or straight. The bangs or fringe is very choppy and edgy. Bangs are best down and straight when they are this short & would look cute colored darker than the rest of the hair (hummm I will remember that for next time).
This cut is very classical but with the layeres it makes it more modern. It is also good to note that if you want a bob to look current keep the fullness in the crow and above the ears…NOT around the bottom (80’s…no triangles).
Now if I would have only taken a picture of her hair before…no more pony tails…lol Best of all I think she really likes it! AND that is what it is all about.
I think I will start taking my camera to work so I can post more haircuts & even some fun hair color.
If anyone knows me at all knows that my life has been CraZy lately!!! Thus i have been a very bad blogger….very bad blogger….bad bad!!! Blogging is something that can easily be put on the the back burner. i think of it like a term paper that you put off unit the week it is due BUT it constantly is in the back of your mind nagging. So on to a new chapter in pamela’s blogging life.

Dennis and Liana...the bride and groom

The Race 4 the cure was held here in Las Vegas yesterday. As breast cancer has touched so many of our lives we at the salon wanted to participate. So we got up early and went and did the race (well we did the walk…not much racing was going on…but we did have a good time). It was hard for me to walk the race and not to run , but I wanted to stay with the salon. I love running this race we had so many good times in Pittsburgh at the race for the cure. Needless to say it was fun to go together as a salon and do something for such a great cause. It was packed tons of support from the Las Vegas community. It was really inspiring and touching.
It has been fun getting to know other hairdressers here in the salon. One of my favorite people I work with is Linda. I am really lucky to share a corner with such a cool person. Love ya Linda!

Okay I have been glued to my TiVo as of late thus NOTHING has gotten done. On BRAVO there was a reality TV program call Shear Genius. A friend of mine told me to watch it because some of our friends were on it. Now this was last year some time when we were in the thick of our house project…so I never got to watch it. BUT I did set my TiVo to record it if it were ever replayed AND guess what late one night it recorded the whole season….enough said it was all over for me….that is all I have done in my free time…..yes so bad I know me watching reality TV about what else but hairdressers…gasp!
So now I just have the final episode to watch tonight (I am sad it is all over…it is kind of like reading a really good book you do not want to end). It has really been fun for me to watch as it is all about hairdressers trying to become the top best Shear Genius hairstylist. It has inspired me to think about my skills and where I want to improve them. It has motivated me to more creative and it has given me some great ideas for my own clientele. I must say the show is really Shear Genius….
Now that I have all the nice blog reasons down (& yes they are all true) here is the real confessional why I have been so addicted to the show. I know 3 of the 12 hairdressers on the show and have worked personally with 2 of them one of which wins the show. It is really interesting watching them work under pressure and to see their skills & talent. ***Beware if you watch reality TV with people you know on it….it is even more additive ***
A new season should be starting soon….I tried to find out when but could not get a date. So rest assured when season 2 comes on I will not be able to watch it all at once I will have to wait and watch one week at a time…like normal people do (which i think is probably a really good thing).
ONE final note today being TAX DaY!!! I did get my taxes done….sigh!

!!!!!Warning personal post!!!!!
For anyone who knows me well knows that Matchbox 20 is my all time favorite band. A couple of nights ago Nathan and I went to see them in concert. They played at the Pearl in Palms Casino. WOW what a great show!!!!! Alanis Morissette opened the concert. She sounds so amazing in person. I think it was one of the best concerts I have been to. I was very excited when MB20 played “Bright Lights”, it is only my favorite song they sing…sigh! What a great night.
We have also been lucky enough to have many of our friends and family come and visit this spring. It has been fun spending time with everyone. I better enjoy it now because when it gets hot no one wants to come to Vegas. I must say that I am looking forward to warmer weather….I like the heat more than I ever thought I would. Biking and running have been better now that it is getting warmer….today was 75. NICE
Sorry I have been a very bad blogger. There are many excuses but none of them really matter. What matters is that I am back and will have a new hair tip soon.
So, log onto i-tunes and listen to Matchbox 20 new album Exile it is a fresh new sound PERFECT way to start spring…I love it…& MB 20
Here’s to better blogging days!

I was asked today for one quote that sums me up. At first I thought how will I ever find a quote that is me. BUT much to my surprise it was easy. Where did I find my quote, the Internet….I only typed in one word “Accessorize” and found something perfect. Now why I picked that word I am still not sure but after some thought I do think it is fitting (humm something else to think about).
Maybe the best any of us can do is not quit,
play the hand we’ve been given
and accessorize the outfit we’ve got.
– By Carrie on Sex & the City.
Not only is this my quote but it is from one of my all time favorite TV shows. So what quote sums you up best? If you want to share I’d love to read your quotes. So feel free to post your quote under comments. AND remember often one’s best accessory is their hair.

My best friend Jean came to visit this past weekend. We had a blast with the little time we had together. However we did make time for hair (something that is very important for our mental well being & Jean’s hair as well). Time with Jean has to be one of my favorite things to do and we do not live in the same city so this is rare. As I reflected on the weekend & the great time we had together I started thinking about some of my other favorite things.
Some items on my list are….but but not limited to…and in no order
- Running….after todays run not quite sure why this came to mind so fast
- Spending time with Nathan
- Travel (sun and a beach sound nice right about now)
- Enjoy! hair-products (love the luxury shampoo & conditioner)
- Watching my TV shows
- Our new coffee machine…its built in and amazing
- Teva flip-flops…I need to get a new pair for this summer…
- Shoes in general
- Headbands for my crazy long hair….yes I have one on in the photo above…but no make-up oops!
- Book-Club…reading the books for it & my friends
- Anything RED!
- Cycling…riding my bike
- Seatbelt purses…they are the best! http://www.seatbeltbags.com/index.cfm
- J.Lohr Valdiquie Wildflower wine
- Michelle Watches (Nathan bought me one for my graduation)
- Matchbox twenty (going to see them mid March … can’t wait)
One of my favorite accessories is the HEADBAND so I wanted to share some insights about the beauty of this fashion accessory & why it made the list.
The great thing about a headband is that you can wear it if you have short, long or medium length of hair. PLUS it is perfect if you are growing your hair longer as it can help get you through those bad hair days. Another thing to love about headbands is you can wear them when you are dressing up or working out. They are very stylish and functional all in one. BUT the bottom line is they keep hair off your face and look stylish. They are also just as easy to put on as a baseball cap and yet look much more stylish.
Here my list of headbands….either places you can buy them or brands I love and recommend.
When wearing headbands anything goes as the photos suggest. Just be brave even with color it can make a dull outfit look cute and very current. I must confess I have drawer full of headbands thus making it on my favorites list. I think headbands are great for work and play. I might like them a little too much as I wear one almost everyday which leads me to my inspiration for my next blog tip what are the signs that you need a new hairstyle … A.K.A. cutting your hair off (which my husband said I could do but he really likes my hair long…sigh…in 14 years he has never said this to me…really)…so even though I am one of the biggest fans of the headband I recommend using them caution as you might get addicted as well and find them on your favorites list.
